A Lake Wedding and a Pinterest Challenge

Congrats to our sweet friends, Ben and Amy Lambert! They tied the knot at the Children's Harbor on the lake this past Saturday. A little over two years ago, Ben and Amy attended our wedding. Little did we all know that two years later they would be making the same commitment to each other. The wedding was beautiful! The weather was perfect for an outdoors wedding. March can sometimes be hit or miss, but they timed it just right, Amy's dress was gorgeous, and of course, she looked absolutely breathtaking! Ben is one lucky man! The sweet couple left in a boat as fireworks filled the night sky!

Another reason Ben and Amy's wedding was so fun, was that we get to see lots of friends that we don't get to see very often. Tucker loves seeing his two best friends, Nick and John. Lacy, John's girlfriend, is tons of fun, even if she is an Alabama fan! Ha! Just kidding, Lacy!

Three very handsome men!

Now on to other news.... in case you haven't noticed.... Spring has sprung! Other than that pesky pollen, I love this time of year! I love buying ferns and flowers and just being outside this time of year! I saw the neatest flower pot display on pinterest (my obsession) and just had to try it. Usually, when I try something on pinterest, it never turns out like the picture, but this time I was pleasantly surprised. This was so easy too!

The completed project.

All you need is four flowers pots that decrease in size as you stack them, a dowel rod, and flowers.I went with petunias, but you can use anything! You take the largest pot and stick the dowel rod into the hole on the bottom. Then you fill the pot up with soil. Take the next largest pot and put it on top of the soil. The dowel rod acts as a support so that the pots don't topple over. Plant your flowers around the sides of the largest flower pot. Continue this with the two other pots. Filling the top pot with flowers.

The red petunias really showcase our new red door!

Our feathered friend is also back! If you remember from last spring, Tucker and I had a mourning dove that made a nest in one of the ferns on the back porch. Tucker was watering the ferns on the back porch Saturday, and look what he found....

Mourny is back!

We named our bird momma, Mourny! I'm not sure if it's the same bird. I have been meaning to ask Mrs. Mirarchi. She's not only my classroom aide, but also a bird expert! I'll let you know soon!

Have a wonderful week!

DIY...Never Again!

Once again Tucker and I bit off a little more than we could chew this weekend...a bathroom renovation. HGTV just makes things seem so simple. They don't show the behind the scenes hard to do mess. Funny how they edit that out, right?

This is what we started with.

I know it doesn't look that bad, but it needed some TLC!

Yucky linoleum! We had this replaced with tile on Friday! Yay!

Things were not looking pretty :(

The painting, the vanity, and the toilet were the easy fixes. Now onto the DIY disaster.... we wanted to replace the shower head, faucet, and knobs in shower/bath. The shower head and faucet were a cinch! After a leak through the downstairs ceiling and many trips to Home Depot and Lowe's we learned that the part we needed could only be bought at a "real" plumbing store. As in, your house is so old, we don't carry that particular part in our store. Sad day! Thank goodness for handy husband. He called a 24 hour plumber to get some much needed advice. After 30 minutes of working the parts with WD40, we were up and running...almost. Let's just say that we have running water, but the knobs are not 100%. Tucker will be getting the parts we need at Ferguson's tomorrow hopefully!

Who knew that little spark plug looking thing could be so pesky?!?! On another note, that sure is a very handsome handy man!

The finished product! Please ignore extremely tired girl in mirror!

We are so happy to finally be done with major home renovations! We have a few more projects up our sleeves, but none are as daunting as the ones we have so far completed. We are on the home stretch now! Have a fabulous week!

Big Changes

Tucker and I had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Hamilton's last night! We have been celebrating our anniversary for almost a week now! We love to celebrate in this family! I had the blackened chicken fettuccine, and Tucker had the jerk pork tenderloin. We shared, and both were delish! We topped the night off with a Gigi's cupcake! Yum! Tucker seriously needs to go back to work. We have been eating like crazy this week.

At Hamilton's

Tucker spent all morning yesterday moving the pool table out of here! I'm so thankful we found it a very happy home! The above picture is what the room looked like without that huge thing! Today we went to World Market to buy a dining room set. Tucker and I (mostly Tucker, ha!) were going to build the Ana White farmhouse table, but we opted to go the easier route and just buy a dining room set instead. At least this way we won't have to buy another one in a few years. We decided it was just best to go ahead and get what we wanted :)

I love the bench!

All this table needs now is a center piece! The bathroom renovation begins tomorrow! Tucker will be pulling up the toilet, removing the hideous linoleum, and removing the old vanity! Tile will be installed Friday morning and hopefully, completed by Friday afternoon! I'm so proud of us for making plans and goals and achieving them, one step at a time! It's been a long journey, but so worth it!

Second Anniversary

Tucker and I are on our way back from the beach. Sadly, the weather didn't cooperate, but we did manage to get our toes in the sand! We have another trip planned in April. Hopefully, the weather will be better then. I promised pictures from our trip, so here they are...

Tucker outside of Lambert's Cafe.

Eagerly awaiting his food!

My new Michael Kors watch! I love it!

Tucker and I at the Original Oyster House (one of our favs!)

The sun peeked out just long enough for us to capture some beach time!

Happy Anniversary to us!

I love this!

It's going to be a stormy ride back home, but I'm so ready to get there! I miss my little boo, and I'm ready to pick out tile for our bathroom. We hope to have it installed this week, along with a new vanity, mirror, and lights! I love a bathroom renovation! I'll be sure to post before and after pictures. Tucker also sold the pool table!!! I know!!! That's almost like another anniversary gift! I know he will hate to see it go, but at the same time, he's ready to say goodbye. It should be out by the time I get home tomorrow from school! Now it's time to get started on my Ana White farmhouse table! We have so many fun things to do, and I can't wait to get started! Stay tuned... bathroom reno. pictures coming up soon!

Weekend Getaway

As I am writing this, I am comfortably sitting in a condo in Orange Beach. Beside me, is my sweet husband, my best friend, my everything. We are here to celebrate our two year anniversary. Yes, it has been two years! (It will actually be two years on Tuesday.) It seems like yesterday that we got married, but at the same time, it feels like we have been together forever. Not forever in the sense that we get on each other's nerves (occasionally that does occur), but forever in a sense that we love each other so much and know each other inside and out. It just seems like we were always meant to find each other.
This weekend is a much needed escape from the reality of everyday. The stress from work has been killing me lately. I some how have to figure out when to grade 75 papers several times a week. I have worked everyday till 4:30 or 5! I taught third grade for four years and seldom worked that late. Fifth grade is a whole new world! Don't get me wrong, I love teaching, but it's tough work.

Today, we took our time getting ready, leaving around 9:30. We arrived in Foley at about 1:00. Tucker had never been to Lambert's Cafe, so we decided to try lunch there. Believe it or not, the wait was only about 20 minutes. Any other time I have been there, the wait has been at least an hour, if not longer. I was shocked! The food was delicious, and Tucker caught a thrown roll! After lunch,we headed to the outlet mall to shop. Tucker bought me a Michael Kors watch for my anniversary present. I told him I wanted a watch, but I didn't expect that! It's rose gold, and so dainty. Just my style! I thank God everyday that my honey had a wonderful mother and sister, because he has fabulous taste! Tucker is getting a spear gun so he can go spear fishing this summer. I know, very romantic! It's what he wanted though :)

Tonight, we are still full from lunch! We are trying to decide where to stuff ourselves. Hopefully, the weather will be nice tomorrow, and we will be able to get out on the beach a little. We have plans for lunch at the Shrimp Basket and dinner at the Original Oyster House. Then I'll be cheating on Bruster's with Scoops Ice Cream ;)

Tucker and I are soaking up every last minute of this time together. I thank God everyday for my wonderful husband. I would be lost without him! I'll post pictures soon!
