Hudson's Dedication

On Sunday, September 15, 2013 we dedicated our precious boy to the Lord. This was such a special time for us as Hudson's parents. Tucker and I did not have this ceremony just for the tradition of doing it. This decision was taken very seriously. We both knew we wanted Hudson raised in a Christian home, and we both want to be examples of what a Godly man and woman should be. I know we won't always exhibit Godly qualities 100% of the time, but I think it makes God happy to know that we are striving daily to be more like him and that we are teaching Hudson all about him.

Hudson and I have conversations all the time about God. I tell him how God made him and how He chose Tucker and I to be his parents. I tell him how blessed we are to have received such a gift from God. Most importantly, I tell Hudson about God's love for him. I read him Bible stories, and we sing lots of songs. I think his favorite is "He's Still Working on Me". I know he doesn't understand much of what I'm saying, but I think it's important to set a strong foundation, because soon enough, he will be able to understand.

We couldn't get him to be still long enough to get his picture!

We were thrilled that our family could celebrate with us.

The dedication ceremony was wonderful. At our church, First United Methodist in Opelika, the pastor takes the baby up and down the aisles of the church while the congregation sings a song written especially for the baby. I always cry during the dedication services, because they are so sweet. This day was no exception. As my tears were overflowing, so was the joy inside my heart. Tucker and I love our church home, and we are blessed with a wonderful church family. We know Hudson will be loved by many there.

Labor Day 2013

Labor Day weekend we all headed to the lake.Where else would we be? And of course we had to get the babies in the lake. This was Hudson's second time swimming in the lake. He loved it! Prudence had a blast too! After our dip in the lake, Hudson and Pru took their first bath together. In a moment of excitement, Shug joined them too!

 Sweet babies!

 Hudson chillin' with his Daddy!

My poor little chunk! That 6 months shirt isn't going to cut it!

Cousins! How cute is Pru's swimsuit?!?!

I'm not so sure about this, Mom!

Some snuggle time with Mymama was just what he needed.

We love the lake! The sun was bright!
I promise we were only there a second!

The grandmother of the year award goes to Shug!
I think Hudson whimpered once, and she jumped right in!
We love you, Shug!

Yummy

Hudson is a week shy of being four weeks old, but we have already introduced cereal to him. The first time we introduced cereal, his Uncle Andy mixed it with juice. He only had a little, and he seemed to like it. The second time we tried, I mixed it with formula. He didn't seem to like that as much as the juice. So back to the juice it was. He gets more all over him rather than down the hatch, but it's so cute.

  I love his expressions!

Hudson is changing everyday. Just this week, we noticed that he can now grab his legs and feet. He can also roll over on his side. He will be rolling all the way over before we know it. He can grab things with his hands. Just today, he grabbed his paci and put it in his mouth. He has also learned how to fight sleep. I blame this on his cousin, Prudence. I think she told him life goes on when he sleeps, so don't sleep and you won't miss anything. Ha! Those two fight sleep hard. Little do they know that when they are older, they will be wishing they could take a nap. Ha! We weighed Hudson today on our scales at home, and it said he weighs 16 lbs. Our little guy isn't so little anymore!

Three Months

I'm so behind! Sweet boy is two weeks away from being four months old, and I'm just now blogging about month three. To say we have been busy would be an understatement. Things have been a little hectic due in part to school starting. The first two weeks are always so exhausting. Thank goodness for a long weekend spent at the lake. It was just what we all needed to recharge our batteries.

At three months, Hudson is eating 7 ounces of formula every 3 hours. We have introduced him to cereal even though the doctor said wait till four months. Doctors don't know everything! Our boy is already wearing six month clothes! They are already starting to get a bit snug. He sleeps through the night, and has even learned to hoot like an owl. He has been making so many new sounds this month. He's very chatty, especially in the morning. Hudson loves his Daddy, and tries to imitate him already. His Daddy taught him how to blow bubbles with his mouth. I love my boys!

Hudson- 3 months

I can't believe how fast he is growing!

War Eagle Babies

Last weekend, Emily, Andy, and little Miss PR visited us here in Auburn. We had a blast!

They are already up to something!

Some how we were able to fit two car seats, four adults, two strollers, and two diaper bags into one car! Making a simple trip downtown isn't so simple anymore, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Pru having fun at Cheeburger, Cheeburger.

Dancing on the table! Oh my!

Getting the perfect picture on Samford lawn was a little difficult.
Sweet cousins!

 The Boswell's

The Fuller's

These daddies aren't ashamed to push a stroller and hold a diaper bag.
They are enjoying the dad life.

War Eagle!

I know I say this all of the time, but seriously life doesn't get any better than this!

Major Changes

It's been a while since I've blogged. Things have been crazy in the Boswell house. I had to return to work on Thursday, but I actually worked all week. Tucker and I decided to go ahead and send Hudson to day care on Monday. Our thoughts were that it would help us all transition to our new schedule. While it did prepare us, it also took a toll on this Momma. Wednesday, the daycare called to inform me that Hudson had been exposed to the chicken pox. Another child in his room had his chicken pox vaccine and ended up getting chicken pox from it. Total panic. I called the Pediatric Clinic right away to see if they needed to see Hudson. There was really nothing they could do. Hudson is too little to receive the vaccine. We will just pray and cross  our fingers that he doesn't get it. I was just about over that little mishap until I picked Hudson up on Thursday afternoon. His teacher, Ms. Marcia, alerted me to a rash that had formed on his legs. It looked just like ring worm, ya'll! Again, total panic. This time we drove straight to the Pediatric Clinic.

I just knew this was the beginning stages of chicken pox or he was covered in ring worm. Thank goodness Dr. Johnson was still there. He informed us that this particular rash was very common and nothing to worry about. (Not chicken pox or ring worm! Whew!) It's an allergic reaction to something, we just don't know what. Dr. Johnson called it erythema multiforme. He told us it would get worse before it got better. I decided I was definitely not going to work on Friday, even though Hudson was not contagious. After all that stress and worry, this Mommy needed some extra snuggle time with my baby. Dr. Johnson also wanted to see Hudson again on Friday morning. I prayed and prayed that Hudson's rash would get better. God is so good! When we woke up Friday morning the rash was much better. Dr. Johnson said he must have had a mild reaction. As of today, the rash is completely gone!

So, this week has been hard. I have questioned myself over and over again. I'm sure other working moms go through the same thing. I felt like a horrible mother for working and sending my child to day care. It's absolutely not the day care's fault. All of these unfortunate events were completely out of their control. I just hate they all happened in the same week. A long weekend was exactly what we needed!

On a happy note, Hudson has been sleeping consistently through the night, so a few weeks ago, Tucker and I decided it was time for Hudson to sleep in his crib upstairs in his room. We bought a monitor with a 2000 foot range. Ha! You could hear a flea jump across the carpet with that thing. Of course, it stays on my night stand with the volume turned all the way up. Hudson has made the transition seamlessly. We may have to go ahead and order the bumper though. They recommend that you don't get the bumper now because of SIDS, but Hudson's little arms and legs always somehow end up hanging out of the crib. That boy sleeps in a hurry!

Hudson's first night in his room.

This is how we found him the next morning!

I'm going back to work tomorrow. I pray that we have an uneventful week :)

Little Toes in the Water

Last weekend, both babies had their first dip in the lake! Prudence loved every minute; Hudson was a bit skeptical at first. I'm sure when he's Prudence's age (almost 7 months! seriously, where does the time go?!?!) he will love it just as much as she did. We had to try twice with Hudson. The first time we waited a little too close to nap time. He was too sleepy for swimming and got fussy. We decided to try again after his nap. The second attempt went much better. Prudence was too cute in her hot air balloon bathing suit. Hudson opted for a speedo:) He's already a stud!

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.

 Emily, Andy, and Pru

Hudson and Big Al in their floppy hats!
 Three handsome Boswell's!

Hudson's second dip in the lake:)

 Ahhhhhh! So realxing!

 Loving the lake!

 Splashing my feets!

Best friends already.

 This girl is a star!

The grands kept the babies so we could go out on the boat. It was my first boat ride of the summer!
<3 my sis-in-law!

I love this boy!

This is just the first of many wonderful memories that will be made at the lake. Our hope is that Hudson and Prudence will love and cherish their time at the lake as much as we do. We can't wait to go back!
